The maintenance of the state’s water and electricity infrastructure is the responsibility of the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority, an autonomous and independent part of Pakistan’s federal government.The largest dams in Pakistan are owned by WAPDA, which was founded after Pakistan gained its independence through a parliamentary act in 1958.
